py uninstall --purge cause wrong "Python install manager was successfully updated" message #333

Install source and version

  • Installed from the Windows Store
  • Installed with the MSIX from python.org
  • Installed with the MSI from python.org
  • Installed with winget install 9NQ7512CXL7T

Version: 26.1

Describe the bug
Running py uninstall --purge causes the Python install manager was successfully updated to 26.1. to be printed after every other command.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. py uninstall --purge
  2. py uninstall --purge

Expected behavior
No Python install manager was successfully updated to 26.1. message should appear as the install manager was already up-to-date.
